Fred Holmes Powers Jr, 94, of Ankeny, Iowa died September 22, 2018 with his family by his side. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 20, 2018, at Church of Christ in Murray Iowa followed by burial at the Murray Cemetery. A luncheon will be held immediately following at the Church of Christ.

Fred was born July 17, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Fred Holmes Powers Sr. and Edna Powers. He was a union electrician and proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 347. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to fish and garden. He was a devoted reader of all things, especially the Bible. He was a hard worker, a value he instilled in all his children.

Fred is survived by his six children Marcia (Ron) Alleman of Ankeny IA, Douglas (Carol) Powers of Meadow Vista CA, Pamela (Tony) Moore Ankeny IA, Kevin (Michelle) Powers of North Pole AK, Rebecca Powers of Ankeny IA and Fred (Christy) Powers III of Kansas City MO; his sisters Mary Powers of Blandford MA and Martha Williams of Sanford ME; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Lois Lee; brothers Robert and Dennis Powers; Marian (mother of Marcia, Douglas, Kevin) and Shirlee (mother of Pamela, Rebecca and Fred III).

The family thanks especially Sunny View Care Center, Sun Crest Hospice, Isles Funeral Home and Murray Church of Christ.
