Mary Coffey Rosa (Liz) departed this earth on September 19, 2018. She was born in Campbellsville, KY on November 25, 1923 to Owen and Della Coffey. She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Bill. Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, September 24, (5752 Blanding Blvd. Jacksonville, Fl) from 10:00 - 10:45 AM followed by a Requiem Mass at 11:00 AM and internment at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery located in Orange Park.
Liz graduated in 1942 from Tri-County High School in Buffalo, IL and worked prior to becoming a Navy Wave. At Glenview Naval Air Station she met the love of her life, a returning Navy POW, John Rosa, and celebrated 72 years of marriage on January 17, 2018. Liz was a perfect Navy wife and Mother. Her life and heart were devoted to her family. Because of John’s multiple deployments she was often alone raising her four children. She loved family activities, dancing, cooking both southern and Italian food, gardening, and when she was young, horseback riding. Liz won a Blue Ribbon at the Kentucky Fair.
She is survived by her husband, John and her children Mary Rosa Bethea (Lou), Linda Rosa Thompson (Don), Lt. General John Rosa (Donna) and Debbie Rosa McCabe. She deeply loved her grandchildren Lisa Leal (Stephen), Christy Gemmill, Jonathan Rosa (Elisha), William Janes (Shannon), Brad Rosa (Jonnel), Mandy Troutman (Brett), Lindsey McCabe and her six great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Arbor Terrace Ortega for their loving care; especially Denise, Geneva and Joanie in addition to her Hospice Nurse Carolyn.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in her honor to: Alzheimer’s Association 4237 Salisbury Road #406 Jacksonville, Fl 32216.
