SMITHVILLE – Barry Dale “Bigfoot” Sims, 40, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, in Marshall County as the result of an automobile accident. He was born March 28, 1969, in Amory to Larry Dale Sims and Beverly Newton Kemp. He worked in maintenance at MTD in Verona and he was a graduate of Smithville High School. He was a member of the Dream Riders Motorcycle Club, Southern Cruisers, and a crew member of Blown Money Racing. He was Baptist. He enjoyed playing music and being around his family and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Wes White, Bro. Ryan Musgrove and Bro. Phil Frye officiating. Burial will be in the Young Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his father, Larry Sims (TC) of Smithville; his mother, Beverly Kemp (Melvin) of Columbus; one brother, Dusty Sims (Kristy) of Smithville; a nephew, Preston Lane Sims; and his grandparents, Una Ione Newton, Albert Kemp and Bessie Kemp.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin D. Sims; and grandparents, Glados and Naomi Sims, William “Bill” Newton, and Alvis and Maggie Coleman.
Pallbearers will be Mike Pierce, John Wax, Mark Clingan, Jeff Wideman, Mick Blaylock, Chris McCreary and Johnny Gann Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dream Riders Bike Club.
Visitation will be 5 until 9 p.m. today and will continue until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
