Edith and her dad, Emanuel Woolhiser owned and operated a grocery, and dry goods store in Gregory, SD for many years, located at 522 Main Street.

They originally built their store in "Old Dallas", which was southeast of the present day Gregory. When the railroad was built in 1906 and missed that location, they moved their store with twenty teams of horses to the town of Gregory. (From the book: Gregory-Carlock History, written by the Gregory Historical Society.)
