Paul E. Dillon, 96, of Beckley, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

He was born March 31, 1918, in Boissevain, VA, and was the son of the late Ause Dillon (Deceased) and Rosa Dillon (Deceased). He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred J. Dillon (Died in 2000); a brother, James Dillon (Deceased); and three sisters, Annie Dillon (Deceased), Nellie Dillon-Richardson (Deceased), and Beatrice Dillon-Blankenship (Deceased).

Paul was in the US Army for six years and three months (1942-1948). He then worked as a billboard poster for a total of 47 years at Beckley Poster Company, Woodie Advertising and Lamar Outdoor Advertising, retiring at the age of 79 ½. He was also a former volunteer fireman for the City of Beckley.

Paul loved to roller skate and spent many hours teaching young people to enjoy the sport. Paul loved working his garden and giving his friends the results of his labor. Being outdoors was a passion he enjoyed with his flowers. Refinishing furniture was another love he had as he spent many long hours doing this. Riding his motorcycles for fun and long trips with his wife, Millie, was the one thing he loved most.

Survivors include a brother, Henry Dillon of CA; two sons, Ernest M. Dillon and his wife Betty Dillon, and Gary W. Dillon I and his wife Mary Ann Dillon; four grandchildren, Teresa Dillon-Price, Gary W. Dillon II, Jason Dillon and Sara Dillon; five great grandchildren, Kyler Ayers, Kein Ayers, Cameron "CJ" Ayers, Jonathan Dillon and Dylan Hannaford.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. John Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
