He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alden Wheeler; and two sisters Violet Tullos and Orlena Wheeler.
He is survived by one nephew, Raymond Wheeler and wife, Linda, of Galena, MO; one niece, Joy Lawson and husband, Donnie, of Huntsville, TX; several great-nieces and great-nephews; very special friends, the Netherlands of the Doniphan and Gatewood, MO area and many other relatives and friends.
He enjoyed ranch work and had worked for Netherland Farms for over 30 years.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Funeral services were held April 6 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, MO. Burial was in the Cotton Creek Cemetery in Couch with Rev. Joe McDonald officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
Pallbearers were Randy McClanahan, Jake Netherland, Sherman Redus, Bob Netherland, Tom Smith and Laird Kelly.
