Douglas Henry Long, 74, a resident of Cleveland, TN, son of the late Roy and Roberta Long, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Erlanger Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

He served in the United States Navy, was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and strong in his Baptist belief. He loved college football, especially the Tennessee Vols. He could be found in his recliner watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night. One of his favorite sayings was "God, Family, and Country".

He is preceded in death by his brother, Mike Long.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Thomas (Patty) Long of Battlefield, MO., Cora Gail (Dean) Thomas of Loudon, TN, Rebecca (Patrick) Flynn of Cleveland, TN; siblings, Gary Thomas (Jane) Long, Beth (the late David) Helms, and Nancy (James) Devine; grandchildren, Autumn Edwards, Savannah Edwards, Kaitlyn (Jordan) Wylie, Wesley Long, Justin (Stormi) Thomas, William Thomas, Gabriel (Ginger) Thomas and Shannon Downs; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Bompadre, Harper Thomas, Isabel Thomas and Matthew Downs.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Companion Funeral Home Cleveland Chapel from 2-4; a memorial service will be held at 4 with burial to follow in the Veterans section of Fort Hill Cemetery. Bruce Underwood officiating.
