Harley W. Butcher
Harley W. Butcher, 91, of Colorado Springs died Monday in a local nursing home. He had worked for the Colorado Springs street department for 18 years. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. today at Sunset Chapel Mortuary, 3825 Airport Road. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the mortuary with Mr. Charles Key officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Butcher was born Feb. 23, 1896, in Wright County, Mo., to James P. and Adline (Phillips) Butcher. He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1947 and was a former resident of Dyersburg, Tenn. Mr. Butcher served in the Army from July 22, 1918, to Jan 17, 1919. He was a member of Shiloh Chapel. He was married Jan. 29, 1920, in Black Rock, Ark., to Annie Davidson, who survives. Mr. Butcher also is survived by a son, Chester of Dyersburg; three daughters, Bernice Self and Esther Hargrove, both of Colorado Springs, and Darlene Bulstrode of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother Albert of Colorado Springs; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mr. Butcher was preceded in death by a son, Alfred, and a grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Chapel, 1724 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, 80909.
