Kermit G. Horning, 87 of Roanoke, presently of Midlothian, VA, went home to our Lord on Sunday, Sept 23, 2018.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Sylvia Horning, his beloved wife, Effie Horning, and grandchild Eric Horning.



Kermit is survived by sons, Ronald Horning and his wife, Patricia, Barry Horning and his wife, Tammy, Ned Horning and his wife, Karen, and David Horning and his wife Patricia; grandchildren, Bryan, James, Amy, Chris, Lisa, Lori, Sara Beth, Jaimie and Paul; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Rae Eubank; sister Cornelia Ritzman and her husband David; five nephews; cousins and many special friends.



Kermit was a long-time member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church, Barnhardt Baptist Church, and Open Door Baptist Church. He served our country in the Korean War. He was an accomplished outdoorsman, and loved spending time in nature, hunting and fishing with his boys. Kermit taught his family the love of Christ, the value of hard work, and the joy that can be shared through humor.



Kermit’s family will receive friends Friday, September 28, 2018 from 1-2 pm at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 627 Hardy Road, Vinton, VA 24179. An informal Prayer Service officiated by Pastor Joseph Peters will follow. Following the service, interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery, 1401 Mountain View Road, Vinton, VA. 24179.
