Visitation: 11 AM – 2 PM at Blessed Hope Church, Vinton. Memorial Service: 2 PM, Saturday, September 29, 2018, Blessed Hope Church, Vinton. Private Interment: Urbana Memorial Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Homes - Vinton is assisting the family.
Douglas was born November 22, 1979 to Randall and Karen (Mather) Hartman in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the Class of 1999.
Douglas was a drummer and loved music.
He was a passionate fan of Da' Bears, which made watching football games with "divided households" very interesting. Douglas loved to play video games, was very skilled with his hands and put pride into everything he did. He thoroughly enjoyed playing football with his family and friends anytime they had a get-together.
Douglas was driven to make all those around him happy and be a positive influence on them. He was a "class clown" and enjoyed making people laugh; even having a nickname for nearly everyone that was close to him.
In his leisure he spent time outdoors fishing and enjoyed being around his nieces and nephews.
Douglas is survived by his fiancé, Teresa Wutzke; his mother, Karen Mather; his brothers and sisters, Roger Hartman, Becky (Josh) Cripe, Robert Stickley, Shawn (KayCee) Stickley, Rachel Stickley, Matt (Sherree) Stickley, Pat (Deb) Stickley, Scott Stickley, Teresa (Ted) Barnhart, Stephane Neese, Justin Peterson and Erich Pilcher; his grandmother, Evelyn Mather and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Hartman; and his grandparents, LourNay Hartman, Bud Hartman and Roy Mather.
