Richard A. "Dick" Brier, age 87, passed away at his son-in-law and daughters home in Jay, Florida on September 21, 2018.
He was formerly a resident of both Baker and Crestview, Florida. Richard was born in Tully, New York on October 5, 1930 to George and Blanche B. Brier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bing Brier; two sisters, Irene B. Smith and Charlotte Brier; his wife of fifty-four years, Ruth Perry Brier; one son, Carl W. Brier.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Army for six years. While stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, he went to Baker one evening and saw the woman he would marry through a grocery store counter mirror. They split a stick of gum and the courtship began. He married Ruth Perry Brier on March 19, 1951. This union produced five children, John Brier of Crestview, Florida; Cheryl K. Santos, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; Jan K. Brier, of Tamarac, Florida; Linda B. Lockett, of Jay, Florida; Son-In-Law, Roger D. Lockett; Grandsons, Joshua R. Whitaker of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jon Michael Santos, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Granddaughter, Jessica N. DuBose, of Baker, Florida; Great-grandsons, Ross Bowden and Dylan DuBose.
