CARL LESLIE ADKINS SR., "The Well Driller," born February 1, 1938, entered into rest September 18, 2018, at the age of eighty years, seven months and seventeen days. He was the son of the late Enoch A. Adkins and Beulah Neal Adkins.
Carl was owner and operator of Adkins Water Well Drilling Company for many years, drilling wells, dozer excavating and saw mill operating. Many worked with Carl during those years, including his son, Carl L. Adkins Jr., and his best friend, Ben Dean. Carl was a loving husband and father of four.
Surviving are his wife, Judith Ann Adkins; one son, Carl Leslie Adkins Jr. (Phyllis); three daughters, Latricia Ann Adkins Smith, Lora Lee Adkins and Lana Gail Adkins (David); two sisters, Loretta Jean Willis (Arthur) and Mary R. Burns (Lewis); one brother, Robert H. Adkins (Carolyn); four grandchildren, Robbie, Leslie, Carl III and Angel; five great-grandchildren, Carl IV, Jamie, Savannah, Brooklynn and Serenity.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, W.Va., with Rev. Jeff Black officiating. Interment will follow in Carl L. Adkins Sr. Cemetery, back on hill at Carl's Drive, Midkiff, W.Va. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
