Josephine (Forte) Phillips, 89, of Robeson Twp., Pa., went home peacefully to be with the Lord September 21, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reading, Pa., Josephine, also known to her friends and family as Josie, was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Acquiline (Angelilli) Forte. She was the widow of Nicholas Phillips to whom she wed on July 17, 1954. They were married for 56 years before his passing in August 2010.

In her younger years, Josie worked as a seamstress at the former Berkshire Knitting Mills in West Reading, Pa. After marrying and starting her family, it was important to her to be at home and raise her four children. She will be remembered for her devout Catholic faith and immeasurable love for her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and newly born great-grandchildren. She was the heart and soul of her entire family to whom she dedicated her life.

Josephine was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception BVM RC Church.

Josephine is survived by two sons, Mark T., husband of Patricia G. Phillips, of Exeter Twp., Pa., and Nicholas J., husband of Leslie F. Phillips, of Sinking Spring, Pa.; two daughters, Mary Jo, wife of John C. Scholes, of Birdsboro, Pa., and Judy G., wife of Mark T. Peters, of Whitehall, Pa.; one brother, William Forte, of Reading, Pa. She is survived by six grandchildren: Thomas, Morgan, Nicholas, Chelsea, Sarah and Stephen; and two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Maverick. She is also survived by her cousin, Anne Schlott, of Fleetwood, Pa.

She was predeceased by her nine siblings.

A viewing will be held at the Dengler Funeral Home Inc., 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro, Pa., on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 9:00 p.m. There will be an additional viewing Thursday, September 27, 2018, at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m.-9:15 a.m. We will be proceeding to Immaculate Conception Church, 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville, (Union Twp.), PA 19518 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held in Gethsemane Cemetery in Laureldale, Pa. Dengler Funeral Home Inc., Birdsboro, Pa., is in charge of the arrangements.
