Weaver Jr., Joe C. a prince of a man, passed from this life to live eternally with his Lord and Savior on December 28, 2013, at the age of 100. He was born July 16, 1913 in Cochrane, Alabama to Bessie and Joe Weaver, Sr., the oldest of six children. Joe attended the University of Alabama earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. Years later in 1965 he earned a Masters in Engineering Administration at SMU. His professional career started at the Sherwin-Williams Co. where he helped develop the first non oil based paint and worked with explosives during WWII. Later he was with Standard Oil-Amoco, moving to Dallas with Texas Instruments in 1959. Joe returned to Amoco and was named Managing Director, Madras Fertilizers Ltd., spending 5 years in India. This important project contributed to the “Greening of lndia.” Joe Weaver was an extraordinary man. He was a man of principle and positive conviction who served his God, his Church, his Family and his Employer throughout his life. He led by example. As he grew in age, he grew in stature becoming an inspiration to many he touched. He was an encourager; caring, loyal and joyful. For the past 11 years at Edgemere Retirement Community in Dallas, he helped create a model exercise Tai Chi program while encouraging everyone, at any age, to be All That They Could Be. His cup of life was always full to the brim. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Weaver. He is survived by son, Barry Weaver; daughters, Marcia Davis and Suzanne Spohn; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, James Weaver; sister, Allene Scott; and Mary Lou’s sister, Joyce Kennamer. A Celebration Service will be held at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas on Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 PM.
