Rachel Bierly was born at Rebersburg, Pa., July 26, 1826. She was married to Rev. G. W. F. Young, a respected Evangelical minister, in 1844, who died at Baltimore, Md., in 1858. She united with the church in early life and remained faithful to the end. Her marriage resulted in the birth of two sons, C. W. Young of this place and J. H. Young of Hollyrood, Ellsworth co., Kan., who were both at the bed side. Grandma, as she was called, was a resident of Huron a number of years and leaves many friends who joined the Herald in extending their sympathy to the bereaved sons and relatives. The funeral was from the Christian church Tuesday, Jan 28., Rev. H. I. Miller, officiating, after which a large concourse of friends followed her remains to the Huron cemetery where the casket was lowered into the grave and its tenent of clay will rest until its maker shall call it home.
