The death of Edgar L. Poirier of 119 Weldon Street, Apt 20, occurred at his residence Monday following a lengthy illness. He was 58. Born in Shediac Bridge, he was a son of the late Patrice and Regina (Cormier) Poirier. He was a civil servant of CFB Moncton, retiring in 1969 after 17 years of service. He was a member of L'Assumption Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Moncton Lions Senior Citizens' Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Celeste Richard; two sons, Leo Paul of Metaghan, N.S. and Jude of Orilla, Ont.; three sisters , Mrs. Stephen Gallant (Jeanne) of Moncton, Mrs. Thomas Nowlan (Alice) of Harrisville and Mrs. Camille Legere (Florine) of St. Anselme; seven brothers, Armand, Filmont and Azor of Moncton, Patrick of Dieppe, Aurelle of St. Anselme, Philippe of Halifax and Blair of Montreal; and three grandchildren. The body is resting at Tuttle Brothers funeral home. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at L'Assumption Cathedral. Interment will be at Our Lady of Calvary cemetery.
