Juanita Reeder of Abilene, Texas went from her earthly home to her eternal home in Heaven on September 23, 2018.

She touched the lives of everyone she knew and always lived her life in servanthood to others.

Juanita was born on August 28, 1927 in Aledo, Texas.

She attended Weatherford Jr. College.

On August 14, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Carl Reeder of Weatherford, Texas. They were married for 53 years at the time of Carl’s passing in 2000.

In 1967, Carl and Juanita moved their family to Abilene.

Juanita began her secretarial career working for Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, Southside Baptist Church, Abilene Baptist Association, where she was recognized as Layperson of the year, and her beloved Hardin Simmons University. At HSU, Juanita worked for religious activities and served as Administrative Asst. to President Jesse C. Fletcher. Juanita retired in 1992. She cherished her many years at HSU and her passion working with the students and her colleagues. She was honored as staff of the year, served as sponsor of Tri Phi Sorority, served on the Board of Development, and the Alumni Board.

Juanita served as a constant support to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Juanita’s children described her as the Proverbs woman. She exuded love and grace and lived a life of the highest moral standards. She knew no stranger and loved everyone. Juanita adored her grandchildren and played an integral part in their lives, always supporting and encouraging them.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; a brother and a sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Harruff and son-in-law, Kirk Harruff of Abilene; son, Mark Reeder and daughter-in-law, Janice Reeder of Abilene; daughter, Denise Ballew and son-in-law, Kevin Ballew of Conroe. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her grandchildren Ryan Harruff, Blake Harruff, Lindsey Neal, Landra Johnson, Jeremy Ballew, and Joshua Ballew, and their spouses, who lovingly referred to her as Maw Maw. Juanita has 12 great grandchildren, soon to be 13, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family is immeasurably grateful to Juanita’s Earthly Angels, Susan and Daivd Spicer, who loved and cared for her over the past 2 ½ years. The family also wishes to acknowledge Hendrick Hospice for their wonderful tender loving care.
