Stanley was elected State Representative for Jessamine and Woodford County, and served from 1950 to 1951. Following his term in the Legislature, he worked in State Government as Assistant Director, Division of Securities, Department of Banking, and also, in the Department of Personnel. He served as the Air Civil Defense Monitor for Kentucky by request of Governor Weatherby.
