David Lee Mott passed away peacefully in his home on September 18, 2018.

He was born February 6, 1950 in Salt Lake City to Ruth and Veral Mott. Dave graduated from Salt Lake Community College in Welding and Electrical. He was employed as a welder for two years and an electrician for seven years, before owning and operating Utah Chassis and Machine for the past thirty-eight years.

Dave's biggest accomplishment was his son, Jaren. He was so proud of him. Dave had a love for cars and racing. Whether it be drag racing, sprint cars, jet cars, even salt cars, Dave had a passion for it. He was a multi-time track champion at Bonneville Raceways. Many racers would tag Dave as one of the legends and patriarchs in drag racing.

Dave was a very patient, gentle soul who touched the lives of many during his life. He will be missed more than words can express.

He is survived by his longtime, loving wife of forty-seven years, Leslie, and the most important person in his life, his son Jaren (Stephanie). He is also survived by his brother, Daniel Mott; sister, Linda Mott; and many wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the greatest friends. Preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Lee Mott; father, Veral Duane Mott; and brothers, Donald and Douglas Mott.

A very special THANK YOU for all the loving care from Dr. Barbara Cahill, Dr. Sanjeev Raman, Tauni, and Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy. Friends and family may visit prior to the services from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
