Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. August E. Prahl, 92, former Kiel resident, who died Thursday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. August G. Schmidt, Chilton. She had been living there three years. The services were performed at the First Presbyterian Church of Kiel with the Rev. George L. Hentschier, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan, officiating. Burial was made in the Kiel Cemetery. The Royal Neighbors held a memorial service Sunday evening.
Mrs. Prahl, nee Emma Severns, was born December 16, 1871, at Pittsville, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Severns, She was married to August Prahl of New London January 13, 1889, at Marshfield Presbyterian Church. They lived at New London and then moved to Manitowoc County and operated farms in the towns of Schleswig and Liberty. They moved to Kiel 40 years ago. The couple observed its 70th wedding anniversary in January, 1959. Mr. Prahl died in December of that year.
She was a member of Ruth Circle of the Women’s Association of the Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Missionary Society, now consolidated with the Women’s Assn., and Royal Neighbors Lodge.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Schmidt and Mrs. Milton Christel of Kiel, Mrs. Irene Bauman of Milwaukee and Mrs. Ferdinand Aschenbach of Sheboygan, 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. A son, Howard, died in 1951 and three daughters in infancy.
