He married Caroline Anna Bagwell (1835 - 1906). Wesley enlisted on April 1, 1862 at Honea Path South Carolina for 1 year. In July and August 1863 he is listed as absent sick in a Confederate Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. While convalescing there he was acting as a nurse in the hospital. He later returned to his regiment. He was mortally wounded on November 30th, and died in a Franklin Confederate hospital in December, 1864. Wesley has a Memorial Marker in the Broadmouth Church Cemetery, Honea Path, Abbeville, County, South Carolina.
