FOWLER, Wilma Dicks died Friday, September 21, 2018. She was born June 26, 1928 in Lulu, Florida to William and Virginia Geer Dicks. Wilma graduated from Winter Haven High School, class of 1946, before moving to Atlanta to attend nursing school at Grady Memorial Hospital. In 1950, she married Gene Fowler, and the couple moved to Plant City in 1956. She served as Director of Nursing at South Florida Baptist Hospital, before becoming Director of Nursing at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, 1963-1985. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Wilma is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Gene, in 2010; her brother, Gerald Dicks and sister-in-law, Betty. She is survived by her sisters, Inez King and husband, Jim; and Bobbie Loveridge and husband, Neil; daughter, Ginger Brinton and husband, Charlie; son, Gene Jr. and partner, Rich Benson; grandchildren, Courtney Brinton, Chuck Brinton and wife, Mindy; great-grandchildren Avery and Carter Brinton; and many nieces and nephews. In honor of her requests, a brief burial service will be conducted 2 pm, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her memory to Good Shepherd Hospice, 12470 Telecom Drive, Tampa, FL 33637, www.chaptershealth.org.
