Lela C. Herold, 93, of Lebanon died Sunday at the Lebanon Rehab and Specialty Care.

Lela was born in New Market, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Myra (Glassgow) Noble. She lived in New Market throughout her childhood, where she attended her schooling and graduated from high school.

She attended beauty school in Nashville, Tenn., after high school. She lived with her sister, Bess, in Columbia, Mo., for eight years, working as a beautician during that time. She moved to Molalla in the early 1940s.

She married Chester Herold on June 17, 1944, in Vancouver, Wash. They moved to Sweet Home after they were married. They lived there until 1957. They have lived in the Sodaville and Lebanon areas since 1957. Lela worked on the family cattle ranch in Sodaville for many years.

She was a leader for the Sodaville 4-H Club for many years. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, working in her flower garden and had delivered meals for the Lebanon Senior Center Meals on Wheels program for 11 years. She was a member of the Fir Lawn Lutheran Church in Sweet Home.

She is survived by husband of 62 years Chester "Chet" Herold of Lebanon; sons Michael Herold of Redmond and Terry Herold of San Francisco; sisters Iva Peters of Lebanon and Ethel Krueger of Silverdale, Wash.; and grandson Kris Herold of Redmond.

She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

A graveside service will be Friday at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
