She was a member of the Patterson First Baptist Church where she was involved in many church activities including Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Maggie lived in Riverside for most of her life before moving to Patterson. She loved to sew, make quilts and going to yard sales. Mrs. Maggie loved to garden. When she moved to Patterson she wouldn’t leave her garden at Riverside until fall was over. She spent most of her time babysitting her grandchildren and then her great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Fannie Westerman, her loving husband, John Delmus Garner, Sr. two sons, John Delmus Garner, Jr, and Danny Anderson Garner, ten sisters, Marty Golden, Lucille Taylor, Louise Galliger, Marie Smith, Mable Turner, Janette Sutterfield, Bernice Bumgarner, Betty Ray Browley, Donna Sue Riley, Ruby Faye and one brother, Charlie Westerman.
Mrs. Maggie is survived by one son, George Garner and wife Sherri of McCrory, Arkansas, one daughter, Doris Stringfield of Heber Springs, Arkansas, one brother, Larry Westerman of Oklahoma, one sister, Kathy Brown of Bull Head, Arizona, ten grandchildren, Timmy Garner and wife Hannah, Shannon Brate and husband Chad, Mike Garner, Mark Dunkin and wife Nikki, Karen Long and husband Jimmy, Marie Lowe and husband Eddie, Brandy Proctor and husband Matt, Melissa Prine and husband Steven, Jessica Garner, Pam Chandler, twenty three great- grandchildren and eighteen great-great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Junior Rudick, Bill Crawford, Dennis Martin, Don Graves, Thomas Garner and Allen Meredith. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandsons.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 24th between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25th at The McCrory First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Union Cemetery near Riverside.
