The Reverend Georgia Ann Strong Decker, 82, of Hutchinson, died Friday, September 21, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born March 21, 1936, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Clement M. and Hazel M. (Hardy) Strong.
Georgia graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954, Hutchinson Junior College in 1956, Emporia State Teacher’s College in 1959, and received her master’s degree from Wichita State University in 1970. She served as a teacher, Title One director, and administrator for over 40 years in the Hutchinson and Partridge school districts. Georgia was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, where she served as Deacon and Archdeacon, and was a member of the Daughters of the King.
She is survived by: daughters, Mari Young of Bradenton, FL, Kathy Baker and husband Rusty of Haysville, Susan Parrish and husband Jim of Granite Falls, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Magby and wife Roula, Heather Magby, Chris Young, Kayla Parrish, Drew Parrish, Brett Parrish, Abigail Parrish; great-grandchildren, Karina Cook and Brantley Young; nephew, Jerry East and wife CeCe and their family.
Georgia was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Kristina Jordan; and sister, Juanita Jean Strong Adams.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2018, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Dr., Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
