He was a graduate of Chester County High School. After high school he worked laying blocks with Jonathan Kitchen for a time and then at worked International Paper in Jackson.
After he married he worked for AT&T as a line installer.

His parents; his wife; three sons; one daughter; four brothers; two sisters; his grandparents; his step mother; and many extended family members and friends.
