He was born at Bonnie, WV, on April 25, 1927, to the late John Robert Simons and Lucy (Westfall) Simons.
Also preceding him in death were sisters, Rena Squires and Lucille Berry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Julious "Julie" (Westfall) Simons; sons, Eddie Simons, Steven "Mike" (Sandy) and Timothy "Tim" (Treva). He is also survived by granddaughter, Michelle (Sam) Short; great- grandchildren, Logan Short and Lane Short; great step grandchildren, Lexi Whitesel, Thomas Whitesel, Brayden Whitesel, Shellie Whitesel, Kyler Compton, Steven Whitesel and Natayla Whitesel and step grandchildren, Franklin Compton, J.D. (Dawn) Whitesel and Joshua (Jessie) Whitesel.
He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time farming and working with his livestock. He also enjoyed going hunting for deer and squirrel or just sitting on his front porch. He played the guitar and mandolin and had his own singing group.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Following visitation, funeral services will be held in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Earl Cayton officiating. Interment will follow in the Westfall Cemetery, Exchange, WV.
