Ada “Ruth” Ruyle, age 85, of Bourbonnais, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at Merkle-Knipprath Nursing Home in Clifton.
She was born February 5, 1933 in Bellflower, the daughter of Lawrence & Vorda Polson Franklin. She was one of 13 children and was raised on the family farm in Bellflower.
In 1951, Ruth graduated from Bellflower High School. After graduation, she began her career at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington. After working for State Farm for 10 years, she moved to the Kankakee area and began her career at A. O. Smith.
On December 17, 1965, she married Robert Allie. He passed away just fourteen years after they were married.
Ruth later married Robert Ruyle on May 23, 1980. He preceded her in death on January 14, 2003.
After her daughter was born, Ruth became a homemaker and took care of children in her home for friends and family for many years. Later in life, she worked at Crossroads Daycare, where she prepared meals for the children. She finally retired at the age of 75.
Ruth always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help someone in need. Ruth loved to dance, listen to music, cook, and work in her garden. She enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams: The Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls.
She was a member of The Institute of Christ the King Catholic Church in Chicago.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Julie & Ed Grabow of Kankakee; four step-daughters, Rhonda Bouchard of Kankakee, Carol & Dennis Mathew of Kankakee, Paula Ruyle of Alton, and Pam (Ruyle) Marcotte of Loda; nine grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister.
In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; three brothers; and one step-son.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais. Canon Joel Estrada will celebrate the mass.
Interment will follow at Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or for masses.
