2018 Jessie Marie Brown, 90, Rocky Mount, Va., passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018. She was born February 11, 1928 the daughter of the late Thomas Millard Sloan and Bertha Saul Sloan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert (Bob) Brown and nine brothers and sisters. She was a founding member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. She worked for many years and retired from the Franklin County School System. Surviving are her daughter, June Altice (Jerry); two grandchildren, Jason Altice (Heather), Joshua Altice (Summer); six great grandchildren, Ethan Davis, Cooper Altice, Braxton Altice, Brentley Altice, Brendon Rose, Autumn Rose; brother, Berkley Thomas Sloan; several nieces and nephews; special life long friend, Elizabeth Martin; special caregiver, Joyce Morton and Special Thanks to Carilion Hospice Staff. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2018 at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m at the church Monday, September 24, 2018 before the service starts.
