Leslie R.F. Cook, 87, of rural Blackburn, MO, died Friday, September 21, 2018, at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Blackburn with Rev. Timothy Miille officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Born January 10, 1931, in Blackburn, he was the son of the late Arthur J. Cook Sr. and Flora Bushman Cook. At the age of 10, Leslie made his home with Rudolph and Lena Hinck, on a farm 1 mile northeast of Blackburn, where he lived all his life, and was a 1949 graduate of Blackburn High School. Leslie was a dairyman and farmer until his retirement and always involved in community activities. On April 2, 1964, he married Carol A. Tieman who survives of the home. Leslie served in the United Sates Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Tieman-Blackburn American Legion Post 478 for over 60 years. Leslie was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served the church in many different capacities, including the church council.
In addition to his wife, Carol; he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Wagner of Waverly, and Linda Moenkhoff (Alvin) of Blackburn; five grandchildren: Corey and Troy Wagner, and Jonathan, Nathaniel, and Kimberly Moenkhoff; three great-granddaughters: Kenadee, Scout, and Charlotte; three siblings: Charles Cook and wife Gail of Independence, Mary Ann Bartel of Concordia, and Roger Cook and wife Karen of Wichita, KS; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Arthur and Flora Cook; Rudolph and Lena Hinck; Bessie Cook; Arthur Cook Jr.; and a brother in infancy.
