Thomas Harvey Jr. was born Oct. 13,1919 to Harvey and Effie Brister in Benton County Miss. He attended Holmes Junior College and enlisted in the US Army February 1941.Following his training he was sent to Fort Mills,Corregidor Island Phillippines. He served with the 60th Coast artillery Corp (Antiaircraft). It was there he was taken prisoner.In September of 1942 he was amoung 1200 Americans sent to Camp Hoten,Mukden,Manchuria.The Japanese had control of a tool and die Company there the prisoners were forced to work there.According to the Japanese he suffered a major injury and died there Feb.23,1944.His parents were informed of his death August 1945.Thru great effords of his sister Roselle Lefferts,US Representative Sonny Montgomery and Senator Trent Lott he was awarded many medels including Bronze Star.All of items with dog tags are on display at World War 11 Museum camp Shelby.MS
Hattisburg.His body was returned in 1948.Info by Kenneth Brister
