Joan Bubick Ball, 90, widow of Nick "Sook" Ball, of Brown Road, Sayre, Pa., (Athens Twp.) passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., with her family by her side and she will be sadly missed by all.

Born October 18, 1927 in Sayre, she was the daughter of Stephan and Rosalia Hubish Bubick.

Joan was a graduate and salutatorian of the Sayre High School class of 1945.

On May 5, 1953, Joan married Nick Ball at the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre. Following high school, Joan was employed by the Blue Swan in Sayre until 1953 when she began raising her children and later in life her grandchildren.

Joan was a member of the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre. Joan was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family.

She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports events. Joan enjoyed playing Bingo and reading novels.

Surviving are: her children, Philip Ball (Vickie Mincer), Susan Seck and husband, David, Jeanne Loomis, Joan Fairlie and husband, Ronald, Nick Ball and wife Patti, Maureen Keene and husband David all of Sayre, her grandchildren, Natalie Aiello and husband Jared, Katherine Ball, Rachel Moraneo, Philip Ball, Michelle Fedorchak and husband John, Sean Seck and wife Maura, George Loomis and wife Amber, Jackie Rowello, Lauren Loomis, Tracy Miller and husband Todd, Gavin Fairlie and wife Samantha, Nicholas Ball and wife Courtney, Megan Jarvis and husband Andrew, Molly Ball, great-grandchildren, Dylan and Caden Wheeler, Ethan and Ayla Miller, Elizabeth, Gabriel, and Abigail Seck, Eden Fedorchak, George and Nora Loomis, Madlyn Rowello and Allison Aiello, as well as several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Nick on December 5, 2008, sister, Mary Fabregas and husband Joseph, infant sister, Pauline Bubick, brother, Michael Bubick and son-in-law, George Loomis.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home, 314 Desmond St., Sayre, Pa.

A Mass of the Divine Liturgy will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre.

Interment will be in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Athens Twp., Pa. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, North Higgins Ave., Sayre, Pa., in memory of Joan Bubick Ball.

A well-attended Mass of the Divine Liturgy for Joan Bubick Ball, 90, of Brown Road, Sayre, Pa., was held Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre with the Rev. Robert Moreno, pastor, as celebrant. Assisting at the altar was Donald Strayves.

Burial was in the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Athens Township, Pa. Pallbearers were Philip Ball, Nicholas Ball, Sean Seck, George Loomis, Gavin Fairlie, Todd Miller, John Fedorchak and Andrew Jarvis.

A luncheon for family and friends was held at Catholic War Veterans Post No. 773 in Sayre following the interment service.

Service arrangements were under the direction of the Alteri-Bowen Funeral Home, Sayre.
