Hannah had first married Samuel Wilson Henderson 10 February 1833 at Washington County, Missouri. A son, Samuel had died as an infant in Missouri. Two daughters, Amanda and Sabilla, a son, Riley, and a daughter, Tabitha, were also born in Missouri, but lived until the 1850's and 60's.

About 1839, the family moved to Nauvoo, Hancock County in Illinois. They are on the 1840 Census; a daughter, Lucinda Ann, was born at Nauvoo in 1842 and a son, James, in 1843.

In May of 1843, Samuel contracted Lung Fever, as many residents of Nauvoo had done, and died of lung inflammation. He was only 35 years old, leaving Hannah a young widow with several youngsters.

Hannah married (2) Joel Terry, as his 2nd wife, 1 December 1847 at Winter Quarters, Douglas, Nebraska. Their first child was James Angus Terry born 1848 at Winter Quarters.

Joel left his families at Winter Quarters 7 June 1848 and accompanied the Heber C. Kimball Wagon Company to the Salt Lake Valley as Captain of the Guard.

When he returned East, three more sons were born to Hannah as they migrated to Iowa by 1850. On 7 July 1851, they joined the John Brown Wagon Company of Latter-day Saints, leaving Council Bluffs, Iowa, bound for Utah Territory.

Joel's first wife traveled as Maria Anderson Terry and Hannah as, Hannah Skelton Henderson.

They had traveled about 445 miles, when the Official Trail Journal read, "Wednesday Aug 27 To day the camp made some 14 miles & camped some two miles below the upper crossing of the Platte where we had tolerable good grass. Here we buried a Sister, who Died in child bed her Name was Hannah [Henderson] Terry wife of Joel Terry, & was buried in a rising spot of ground near our camp on the south side of the road."

The remaining members of the family reached the Salt Lake Valley 29 September 1851. Maria Anderson Terry died the following March and Joel married Jane Pearson, widow of James Hacking who had died in England and John Fisher, who had died two months prior at American Fork, Utah County in 1853. She had several children, as did Joel.

The baby girl born to Hannah was living with her oldest half sister, Sarah Jane (known as Jane) Terry and husband Ether Crosby Knight's family during the 1860 Census in Salt Lake County. She was nine years old and named Hannah Terry.

The Knight family was in California by 1870 and Hannah was not with them at the taking of the Census. It is not known, by this researcher, if she married or died between 1860 and 1870.
