Pensacola - Rebecca "Becky" Walker was embraced in the arms of her Creator and taken home on September 19, 2018 at the age of 79. Becky was born on July 27, 1939 in Birmingham, AL. As a toddler her family moved to Pensacola, FL. She graduated from Booker T. Washington Senior High in 1957. Some of her fondest high school memories are of her performances as a majorette with the Wildcat Band.
On August 18, 1958, she married the love of her life, Earnest M. Walker, Sr., of Pensacola, Florida and began building a life as a military spouse. A year later they welcomed the birth of their first child, Earnest, Jr. Their second son, Derrick, followed three years later with their only daughter, Antonette, and last son, Marcus, to come in 1964. Becky's marriage took her to California, Hawaii, Texas, and North Dakota. She was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child started school in Hawaii in 1969.
Upon her husband's retirement from the United States Air Force, they settled down in Pensacola to finish raising their family. Becky retired from the University of West Florida in 2004 where she worked as a Personnel Relations Officer in the Human Resources department.
Becky spent her last years focusing on enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while nurturing her beautiful plants and cultivating her love of interior design of her home.
She leaves to celebrate her life, her dedicated and loving husband of 60 years, Earnest M. Walker, Sr.; her eldest son, Earnest M. Walker, Jr. (Chakaya), and her daughter, Antonette L. Walker-Ford (Jack). She was preceded in death by two sons, Derrick L. Walker, Sr. (Jacqueline) and Marcus R. Walker, Sr. and her parents. Her memories shall carry on through her sister, Charley Harris, her grandchildren - Twanna Jones (Alex), Derrick L. Walker, II, Devon L. Walker, Sr. (Tiffany), Marcus R. Walker, II (Tiffany), Montrell R. Walker, Jack S. Ford, III, JeNais A. Ford, Ketura Walker, Khalil Walker, Soraida Walker, eleven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Becky will always be remembered for her love of others, her ever so kind heart, and her deep loyalty.
Wake to be held at Tracy Morton Memorial Chapel on September 27, 2018 from 5 to 7. Services to conducted at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on September 28, 2018 at 10 am. Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery on September 28, 2018 at noon.
