Record at St. John Lutheran Church states father's given name was Johann. See husband's bio for complete list of their children. One obituary says immigrated in 1842, and another says 1848; however, daughter Elizabeth Braun Bender reports on 1900 U.S. Federal Census that immigration was 1841. The first two children, Michael and Elizabeth, were born in Germany. The children born after 1841 were born in Spencer County, IN (church record and 1850 U.S. Federal Census). There is a U.S. marriage date of 1842 (as recorded at the church and in the Indiana Marriage Collection); unknown if they were previously married in Germany.

From Tell City Anzeiger 5 Jan 1901, obituary from Spencer County (translated from German):

BRAUN, Mrs. Katharina
On Saturday, December 29,(1900), near Huff, Spencer County, Mrs. Katharina Braun died at the home of her son Christoph, after lengthy ailing from dysentery and old age in her 86th year of life. The deceased was born 24 Jun 1815 in Moritz (Moritzreuth), Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany. In 1841 (1842 on church record) she married her husband, Johann Braun, and in 1842 (?1841) came to America with her husband and settled on a farm near Huff, Spencer County, where she remained living until her death. The couple was blessed with 13 children, of which three children preceded her in death, and her husband followed them in 1868; she was a widow for 32 years. Her age she brought to 85 years, 6 months and 5 days and experienced 59 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The mortal remains were given over on Monday in the Lutheran cemetery to the bowels of the earth with a large number of grief bearers in attendance. Pastor Koch led the funeral. May the earth be light on her who has fallen asleep. Johann Braun from Owensboro, Mrs. George Braun (Brown) from Rockport, Wilhelm Braun (Brown) from Parkville (?Pikeville), and Fritz Braun from Tell City were here on Monday at their brother Christoph Braun's to attend the burial of their mother.

Note: (Since the 10 children who survived at the time of their mother's death are well-documented, it is deducted that the three children who preceded her in death were: Christine (married Friedrich Traut), Johann A., and Peter. Following is a "New Boston obituary" reporting 12 children, but her Tell City obituary and son John W.'s death notice in an Owensboro, KY, newspaper states there were 13 children (see photo of article on John W. Braun's memorial page/photo#5).
