Joe Kyle Short, 82 of Morristown, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 20, 2018, peacefully at his home following a long illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He worked as a firefighter with MFD and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was one of the founding members of the NHCVFD and served as Chief for many years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Danie and Sarah Short; brothers: Max, Bill, and Clay; sisters: Margaret Clevenger and Shirley Newman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Cloda; children: Phyllis Pugh, Pam Short and Shannon (Christine) Short; the light of his life, granddaughters: Sarah Pugh and Alexis Short, and many fur grand children.

Funeral services will be 8:00 PM, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Tim Collins and Rev. Chris Hayes officiating. Family will receive friends Friday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM prior to services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Saturday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Adriel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
