Gary Somerville, Sr., 67, of Amarillo, died Sunday, September 16, 2018.
Memorial services will be 2:00pm Friday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Chaplain Jeff Messer officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday and Thursday until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Gary was born June 4, 1951 in Amarillo. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1969. He married Janice Hill in 1973 in Amarillo. He worked for USPS as a letter carrier for 30 years, retiring in 2010. He loved his work, and had the same route for over 25 years. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed fishing and camping. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He was an avid OU Football fan. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Billie Belew; and two brothers, Victor Somerville and Sam Somerville.
Survivors include his wife Janice Somerville; a son, Gary Somerville, Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Cassie Ballard and husband Tracy of Amarillo; four brothers, Charles Somerville, Teddy Somerville and wife Debby, Eddy Somerville all of Amarillo, and James Somerville and wife Regina of Texhoma, OK; three sisters, Peggy Merridith and husband Dale, Anita Sheffield, and Wanda Cummings and husband Leonard all of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren, Marissa, Jaden, Michelle, Cloei, Cynthia, Michael, and Jimmy.
