Paul Albert Kober, 77 of Columbus met our Lord and Savior on August 30, 2018 with his family by his side.
Paul was an only child born on January 31, 1941 to Emil and Beulah Kober residing in Columbus, MT. He spent his growing up years in Columbus where he was a big part of the small farm his family owned up the Stillwater where he started working at the age of 9. The farm was the start of a long life of a hard honest working man. In 1962 he married Connie Luriee Stoessel and in that union they had four children. In 1968 they took the family to Three Forks, MT to work on a farm up the Gallatin. In 1972 they moved to Forsyth, MT to work on a ranch which turned out to be Paul’s favorite job in his many years of employment. There he created many beautiful memories with his wife and kids. In 1980 the family moved back to Columbus where Paul worked for Gene Davey doing what he loved most, farming. Later he worked for Montana Silversmith’s as a tool and die maker and later at Ken’s I90 Repair until his retirement . Even after retirement he worked until the age of 70 helping friends harvest crops or work on their equipment. At the time of his death he lived up the Whitebird where he and Connie purchased some acreage that they enjoyed for many years.
Paul spoiled his children in the simplest of ways. He was known to find old bikes, piece them together and paint them so they could have a bike. He loved helping his kids with science projects. He’d pull them on a sled behind his tractors in the winters or let them climb on a tractor and farm with him.
They planted many huge gardens together. He loved dogs and made sure the family always had a dog. His friends were always dear to him and he had many, he loved to see a friend come up the driveway. Paul had many passions; his family, farming, dogs and International Harvester. He could always be found on his Farmall H with a smile on his face or with a wrench in hand working on a tractor or under the hood of many of his prized vehicles. He smiled the most when he was plowing up the land for himself or one of his friends. He loved music and always had a radio going listening to 50’s and old country. He was sentimental and saved every card or gift he was given. He was loyal to his parents and friends and taught his kids the meaning of hard work and respect. He loved to make people laugh. He had an impressive memory for dates, events, people’s names and things that happened throughout his life, even from his childhood. His Nana and Uncle Bill were very dear to him.
Paul is survived by his children Buddy of Columbus, Laurie (Joe) Bauer of Cody, Debbera Vasser of Columbus, Bill (Durene) Kober of Columbus, and grandchildren Paul, Jeffery, Michael and Amber.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie of 50 years, parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles, dogs Questa, Cassie, Daisy, Taz and Homer.
Lesson’s learned from Paul for a great life are make people laugh, appreciate the simple things as they are the most valuable, help your neighbor, give more than you have, spoil your kids and grandkids in simple memorable ways, if you love dogs, adopt and make them family. Hang onto and love your friends and life will always be good.

A celebration of life for Paul and Connie will be at 1:00pm Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Evangelical church in Columbus with viewing starting at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Mountain View cemetery in Columbus.
