Ruth Elaine (Schlager) Simpson, 86-year-old Vinita resident, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at her daughter's home. She was born on December 5, 1931 in Gilcrest, Colorado to George and Emma (Weber) Schlager. Ruth graduated from Ft. Lupton High School. She married Calvin T. Simpson on December 24, 1949 in LaSalle, Colorado, they moved to Oklahoma in 1955. Calvin passed away on October 23, 2007. Ruth was a house wife and helped her husband with his worm farm and bait business for many years. She was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church. Ruth was also a lifetime member and past commander of the DAV auxiliary in Vinita, she also was a Cherry Red volunteer. On April 11, 2009 Ruth married Ray Jinks, he survives of the home.
Those preceding her in death include: her husband Calvin T. Simpson, brothers, Ernest and Robert Schlager, a sister, Loretta Heroux and a grandson, Travis Hale who passed away on December 27, 2005.
The family includes; her husband, Ray Jinks of the home; daughters, Janell R. Rhodes and husband Carl of Vinita, Patricia L. Simpson of Mounds; a son, Howard G. Simpson and wife Carolyn of Vinita; Ray's children, James Jinks and wife Saundra of Miami, Sue Allen and husband Jerry of Carthage, MO, Mary Rexwinkle and husband Jerry of Afton, David Jinks and wife Pamela of Stillwater, Jeff Jinks and wife Valerie of Diamond, MO; sisters, Annette Lyon of Brighton, CO, Rebecca Lowe of Holyoke, CO; grandchildren, Brian Rhodes, Jason Rhodes, Chris Hale, Michelle Mauk, Natasha Carlton, Shawn Hale and Lesa Moss; numerous other family members and friends as well.
The Visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 PM.
The celebration of life for Ruth Simpson will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Leland Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice and their staff of nurses and caregivers for the wonderful care that was given.
