Cameron attended Johnson High School and received his GED from Calhoun Community College in 2000. Upon graduating from Swift Driving Academy and earning his CDL, he became licensed to drive 18-wheelers which he loved ever since his was a little boy. He was quickly promoted to instructor and remained a truck driver until his death.
He was a member of Valley Fellowship Church the majority of his life and later attended Faith Chapel. He has always believed that Jesus was his Lord and Savior.
Cameron was a mentor to youth in our neighborhood and helped those in need. He was always a true kid at heart who loved hugs, being with friends and family, long walks at night, and playing with his nieces and nephews. He was like a big teddy bear, big-strong on the outside, but soft and squishy on the inside. He lived life to the fullest-never holding on to anything, but giving everything. He loved truck driving because it allowed him to explore the world because he was an adventurous soul.
He is survived by his mother and father Virgil and Dollie Holmes, plus 6 siblings: Terry Rose, Tevin, Talitha, Natalie, Nedra and Joseph Holmes. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Tameka Rose, and brothers-in-law: Corey Caudle and Marlandus Goodloe. In addition, his grandmother, Willie Mae Urqhart-Holmes, and more than two hundred aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He had no biological children, but he loved Artez and Jalen Thompson as his own.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Valley Fellowship Church (3616 Holmes Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35816) with Pastor Carol Simon officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Mr. Holmes will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
