KEOTA-Robert Francis Schulte, age 92, of Keota, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at McCreedy Home in Washington, following a short illness.

Bob was born February 2, 1926, in rural Harper, to Vincent Ambrose and Dorothy Kay (Peiffer) Schulte and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School. Bob grew up on the family farm being the only boy with six wonderful sisters. On February 28, 1949, he married Mary Elaine Smith at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage before Elaine's passing in October of 2012. A member of Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church, he loved being a lifelong farmer and enjoyed the outdoors, animals and wildlife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also adopted a special kitty after Elaine passed away that he considered a part of the family.

Survivors include his four children: John Schulte of Harper, Lori Schulte, Pam Collins of Ottumwa, Dan (Amy) Schulte of Keota and Debra (Billy) Barnes of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren: Ryan and Lauren Schulte, Billy Barnes II and Abby, Jillian and Jaime Schulte; two great grandchildren: Rylee and Tate; sister: Thelma Mahan of Wayland and 18 wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Elaine; daughter: Jackie Rees; sisters: Irma (Francis) Gent, Geny (Leonard) Bombei, Arlene (Clarence) Samuelson, Theola (Bernard) Hermann and Betty (Beryl) Adams and brother-in-law: Leonard Mahan.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, where there will be a wake service at 4:00 p.m.
