DONALD W. POTTER of Sayre, PA, age 79, was born March 23, 1939 in Sayre, PA the son of the late David B. and Helen A. (Farrell) Potter Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

His son, James S. Potter and brother, David B. Potter Jr. also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife 59 years, Phyllis A. (Stalter) Potter; his children: Ronda J. Cady, Brenda S. Potter, Craig A. Potter and special niece, Stacy Cleary; along with 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jean Potter; brothers, Stewart Potter, Stanley (Delores) Potter and Timothy (Sandy) Potter; his canine companion "Izzie" and his feline friend "Fred".

He was a Veteran of the US Navy and proudly served his country. He retired from Westinghouse/Eaton Electrical after 36 years of dedicated service. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will follow the visitation at 6 pm. Pastor Bob Briggs will officiate. Interment will take place on Friday at 10 am in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard will accord Mr. Potter Military Honors and Pastor Briggs will conduct the committal service. –Elmira Star-Gazette 9/19/2018
