Merle Chamberlain Hooper, 91, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2006. She was born November 2, 1914 in Circleville, Utah. Her parents were Ellis F. Chamberlain and Ina Fullmer. She married Jack K. Hooper and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed many happy years of marriage. They lived in Riverton, Utah for two years and the remainder of the time in Salt Lake City. Her interests revolved around her family and the arts. She painted ceramics, made floral creations, enjoyed playing piano and organ, and was a great cook. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack K. Hooper and her daughter Carolyn Openshaw. She is survived by her two sons, Robert D Hooper and J. Stanley Hooper. She has 15 grandchildren 19 great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. The family expresses appreciation to the Inspiration Hospice, their staff and others who helped care for mom. Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Chapel, 3115 E. 7800 S. Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held on that day at 1 p.m., prior to services.
