1934 - 2018
On September 10, 2018, we said "goodbye" to Joe "Buck" Stockton, Sr. Buck was born in Montana, Arkansas, on January 22, 1934, and spent his childhood in Arkansas. In 1950, at the age of 17 yrs. old, he joined the U.S. Navy, stationed in California, fighting in the Korean War and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1972, after reaching the rank of Senior Chief Engineman.
Buck had met and married the "love of his life" Marval Lee Hines, on March 11, 1956. Together they raised four children. They settled in Marysville, California in 1974, where they raised cattle, joined the local Grange and Buck raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in the American River Lodge 795.
Buck retired at Formica then Sunsweet Growers, but retirement didn't slow him down, he continued to raise cattle up until his 83rd birthday. He loved to have his children and grandchildren come by and visit, sit on his front porch and share stories of his life with Marval Lee and the family.
Buck is survived by his wife, Marval Lee Stockton; his four children, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Buck Stockton and Mildred Evelyn Ross; his brothers, Bill Stockton, Dick Stockton, Truman "Blue" Stockton and Major Stockton, all from Arkansas.
On September 14, 2018, Buck was entered into rest at the Wheatland Cemetary with full military honors, and a service officiated by the Corinthian Masonic Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, notes of condolences can be sent to Marval Lee Stockton, to be put into her personal journal.
