Sylvia Annette Gardner, 79, passed away Aug. 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Gardner Jr.
Born March 2, 1939, in Lakeland, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Orie Canady. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Evelyn Sparrow and Elsie Kornman; niece, Beverly Barlow.
Survivors include her 4 children, Terry Gardner, Tonya George, Todd Gardner and Rodney (Christina) Weeks; 2 brothers, Devon and Myers (Ginger) Canady; sister, Shirley (Willie) Moats; grandchildren, Misty (Trevor) George Alexander, Christopher R. and Tyler George, Selina, Angelina, Dillon (Ashley) Rodgers, Luke Gardner, Jamie, Faith, Rodney M., Madeline, and Preston Weeks; great-granddaughter, Oceanna George, so many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren to list that she didn’t have opportunity to know yet still loved, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Gardner leaves a legacy of children she helped to care for and raise. She will be missed deeply by all who knew her. She was a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall.
The family will receive friends form 10-11am on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at First Baptist Church at the Mall. A funeral service will follow at 11 am at the church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
