Charles was the son of Benjamin and Emily (Haywood) Hobart of Edmunds. He was age 23 in the 1850 census residing with his parents. Charles was a lumberman and a lifelong resident of Edmunds.

Charles married Druscilla W. Foster of Dennysville Oct 13, 1852. They had children: Clara F. born Sept 20, 1853, Joanna Emily born June 17, 1856, Sidney Haywood born Aug 4, 1858, and Maria L. born about 1861. They may have had another child Mary F. who died around the time of the mother.

He and Drucilla appeared in their last census together in 1860. They had children Clara F, Joanna E and Sidney H. He and his wife were aged 32 and were residing in Edmunds.

Drucilla died in 1866 and Charles is in the census widowed by 1870 with his children Clara F 16, Joanna F. 13 ,Sidney H 10 and Maria L. age 9. In 1880 he was farming and by 1900 he was residing with his son Sidney and family.

He died in 1903 and was buried with his wife in Dennysville Cemetery. Son Sidney FaG #118885325 also buried there.
