Don N. Cole, 86, of Lebanon, died Monday afternoon, May 7, 2007, at St. John's Hospital-Springfield.

He was born Sept. 27, 1920, near Eldridge, Mo., to James D. and Maude Marie Phelps Cole, who preceded him in death.

On March 25, 1970, he married Mary Edith Jarman Ivey, who preceded him in death on June 13, 1996. In 2000 he married Loie Bowers.

In addition to his parents, and wife, Mary, he also was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Cole; a brother, Kenneth Cole; and a sister, Mary Lee Stouard.

He worked in the Mid-America Dairy in Lebanon for many years.

He followed the Baptist faith and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lebanon. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Survivors include his wife, Loie Bowers-Cole, of the home; two daughters, Twila Hillme, of Springfield and Melva Cole, of Richland; a son, Gene Cole, of Hawaii; three stepdaughters, Janie Blattel and Teresa Jackson, both of Lebanon; Donna Gladden, of Eldridge; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his extended family including three stepsons, Joe, Eddie and Ronald West; a stepdaughter, Beverly Stoval; several nieces and nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, John B. Cole, of Lebanon.

Services for Don N. Cole will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel with the Rev. Russell Randolph officiating.

Burial will be in the Lonesome Hill Cemetery, near Phillipsburg, with Full Military Rites by V.F.W. Post No. 4107, under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Lonesome Hill Perpetual Care Fund and contributions may be made through Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
