Viola Laverne Cook, age 92, of Murfreesboro, Arkansas died on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at her home. She was born September 18, 1925, in Spearsville, Louisiana (Union Parish) and was the daughter to the late J. Clete Gardner and Gladys Louise Rockett Gardner.

She was a homemaker, beautician, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Marion “Jack” Gray and Roy Charles Cook both of Murfreesboro, brothers Huey W. Gardner and Rowlis A. Gardner; and a son Robert Wayne Gray.

Survivors include a son Thomas Michael “Tom” Gray, Sr. of Danville; Daughters Debra Gray of Murfreesboro and Kimberly Gay Cook of Arkadelphia; and a brother Arthur Ray Gardner of Bauxite.

Grandchildren are DeWayne Gray of Murfreesboro; Jacqueline Michelle Smead; of Glenwood; Madeline Danielle Cook of Arkadelphia; Jennifer Stogsdill, of Senatobia, MS; Jayson Cox of Kirby; Thomas Michael “Mike” Gray of Springdale; Philip Tedford Gray of Russellville; Janet Gail Gray-Freeman of Maumelle; and Robert Machemer of Townsend, MA; fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, September 2, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 3, at First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro with Kevin Smead officiating. Burial will follow in Brocktown Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or the Ouachita Regional Hospice.

Pallbearers: Philip Gray, Michael Gray, Haddon Smead, Jack Gray, Jayson Cox, Thomas Gray III, DeWayne Gray.
