Mrs. Ferrell was born in Wilson County on November 6, 1938 daughter of the late Silas Jasper Davis and the late Viola Mae Renfrow Davis. On August 15, 1964 she married James M. Ferrell who preceded her in death on November 15, 1987. She completed her Masters Degree in Library Science at East Carolina University. Mrs. Ferrell worked in the education field and retired as a librarian at Beaufort County Community College. Other than reading she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Washington.
Survivors include three daughters: Roxanne F. Beeman and her husband Larry of Washington, Elizabeth F. (Buff) Blizzard and her husband Shannon of Beulaville and Frances F. Harris and her husband Jeff of Lillington; a brother Dewey R. Davis of Lucama; seven grandchildren: Davis Allen Beeman, Mary-Morgan Elizabeth Beeman, Elizabeth Sumner Blizzard, Ruby Jamesan Blizzard, James Nelson Harris, Jack Nicholas Harris and Jasper Thomas Harris; her best friend Frances Woodard of Black Creek; a niece: Susan Davis Cleary of Banner Elk and three nephews: Rusty Davis of Raleigh, Jim Davis of Lucama and Don Davis of Melbourne, FL. Mrs. Ferrell was predeceased by three brothers: Silas Jasper Davis, Jr., James (Jim) William Davis and Donald Dix Davis.
