Matthew Christopher "Matty" Hammond

Winchester - Matthew Christopher "Matty" Hammond, 24, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, September 14, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.

He was born on June 4, 1994 in Muncie, the son of Todd A. and Susan A. (McFalls) Hammond and attended Winchester Community High School.

Matthew attended the Jar Church and enjoyed fishing, basketball, music, running, spending time with his family and friends including bonfires and being in the hot tub. He also loved his animals.

Surviving are his mother, Susan A. Hammond (significant other, Frank M. Harter, who was a step-father to and helped raise Matthew) of Winchester; his father, Todd A. Hammond (fiancé, Angela Smith) of Gaston; three siblings, Tiffany Marie Geesaman (husband, Buddy) of Noblesville, Landon Hammond and Lexi Hammond, both of Muncie; his grandfather, Rex Hammond (wife, Dixie) of Muncie; two aunts, Brenda Brannon (husband, Tony) and Mary E. McFalls, both of Muncie; four uncles, Andrew McFalls (wife, Vertie) of Muncie, Neil Hammond (wife, Janice) of Daleville, Jeff Hammond (wife, Bambi) of West Virginia and Scott Hammond (wife, Tonya) of Aberdeen, WA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wade and Alicia McFalls and June Hammond.

Funeral Services will be held 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Dr. John Bunch officiating. Cremation will take place following services.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018.
